We Are Community.

We are a Lancaster-based nonprofit initiative creating welcoming, plant-based food experiences where people can eat, participate, and spend time together. Turnip For Love isn’t something we do for people, it’s something we do with people. Everyone who comes to an event has something to offer and something to receive. The person receiving a meal this time could be the person volunteering their skills the next time! Our process depends on the kindness of volunteers to help cook and share our meals. We run on donations to be able to help provide for these meal shares.

Anyone is welcome. Everyone Eats.

Sharing food is our love language and 'Community happens at the dinner table' is our belief. We host "meal shares" by setting up a stand in outdoor community gathering spaces where we share freshly cooked, nutrient-dense, plant-based meals along with useful items like socks and wipes when available.

We make the most of what’s available.

We want to use what we've got. We happily create delicious and nourishing dishes with rescued and donated produce, canned or dried vegetables and legumes. We make sure any food that comes our way gets used in our meals, broths or composted otherwise. That's our promise! We are partnered with Blessings of Hope to source the majority of our rescued food.
